Monthly Gridded SPI and PDSI (1901-2005) over the Canadian Prairies
2009-09-01
publication
The data set includes PDSI and SPI for the Canadian Prairie Region ranging from 1901 to 2005. The gridded Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) data quantifies drought conditions on a monthly scale from 1901-2005 over a large section of western North America centered over the Canadian Prairies. The indices are calculated on a 10km grid with the temperature and precipitation inputs provided by the ANUSPLIN dataset from the Canadian Forestry Service.
Developed to assist in the comparison of previous drought years to the target drought of 1999-2005.
